The Unidade de Polícia Naval (Naval Police Unit) is a subunit of the Fuzileiros Battalion nº1, focused on force protection missions and military ceremonies and protocol, with an extremely high employment level. The Naval Police Unit is on mission 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Naval Police

  • ​​​The Naval Police Unit watches over the correct conduct and presentation of all Portuguese Navy personnel;

  • Performs protocol security missions;

  • Assures the transport and armed escort of Navy prisoners;

  • Performs the armed escort of munitions between units and military bases under the responsibility of the Portuguese Navy;

  • Performs motorized rounds to control leaves;

  • Inspects Navy vehicles and sensitive points;

  • Performs armed escorts for high entities, classified material, and goods when justifiable;

  • Performs duties of Military Police during campaigns and motorized convoys in support of operational activities;

  • Cooperates with other branches in the ambit of the Naval Police service.

 

With nearly 150 Fuzileiros the Naval Police Unit is organized and ready to immediately respond to all daily missions it has assigned.
