Paulo Jorge da Silva Ribeiro
The Comodoro (OF-6) Paulo Jorge da Silva Ribeiro was born in Lisbon on July 14th of 1962, and started attending Naval School on September 7th of 1981 and was promoted to Midshipman (OF-1) on October 1st of 1987.
At sea, exercised the functions of service chief and tactical actions officer in the refueler S. Gabriel and the frigate Comandante Roberto Ivens. Also performed the functions of Executive Officer in the corvette naval vessel António Enes and the frigate Comandante João Belo.
Was the commander of the patrol vessels Cuanza and Cacine and the frigate Comandante Sacadura Cabral.
In land units, worked in the Comando Naval (Naval Command) as Chief of the Secção de Protocolo (Protocol Section) and the Secção de Atividades de Fiscalização (Inspection Activities Section), and in the Direção do Serviço de Formação (Training Service Direction) as Chief of the Repartição de Tecnologias de Formação (Department of Training Technologies), in the Instituto de Estudos Superiores Militares (Military Institute of Superior Studies) as Chief of the Serviços de Apoio (Support Services), in the Direção de Pessoal (Personnel Affairs) as Chief of the Repartição de Militarizados e Civis (Department of Military and Civilian Affairs) and in the Instituto Universitário Militar (Military University Institute) as coordinator of the Área de Ensino Específico da Marinha (Navy Specific Teaching Area).
Was Captain of the Peniche Port and Local Commander of the Polícia Marítima (Maritime Police) of Peniche. Between June 2017 and January 2019 performed functions of Comander of the Zona Marítima da Madeira (Madeira`s Maritime Zone), Chief of the Departamento Marítimo da Madeira (Madeira`s Maritime Department), Regional Commander of Madeira`s Polícia Marítima (Maritime Police), Captain of the ports of Funchal and Porto Santo and Local Commander of the Polícia Marítima (Maritime Police) of Funchal and Porto Santo.
Also worked in the Divisão de Operações do Estado-Maior Internacional do Comité Militar da NATO (Operations Division of the International Staff of the NATO military committee), in its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium (2008/2011).
Is specialized in Naval Artillery and attended the Senior Course (2007) at NATO Defense College in Rome, Italy. Is also certified with the Curso Geral Naval de Guerra (General War Naval Course -1996) and the Curso de Promoção a Oficial General (General Officer Promotion Course – 2015/2016).
Was promoted to his current rank on December 6th of 2018, having served in the functions of Director de Formação (Training Director) from 17th of January to November 12th of 2019.
On November 18th of 2019 took the office of Commander of the Corpo de Fuzileiros (Fuzileiros Corp).
