The Destacamento de Acções Especiais (Special Actions Detachment - DAE) is the Portuguese Navy Special Operations Unit, capable of operating from the sea, air and land.

​​Capable of completing all types of special operations missions, the DAE can operate on a team level, as a Special Operations Maritime Task Unit (SOMTU), autonomously, integrated into a National Special Operations Task Group (SOTG) or integrated in a Special Operations Maritime Task Group (SOMTG) alongside Special Operations Units from other countries. 

​The DAE is also capable of performing Staff duties on a national and international level, and to support Fuzileiros Forces and others.

Due to the high demanding, high risk, and classified nature of its missions, the Fuzileiros of the DAE, are required to be in peak physical shape and on top off all skills associated with their functions.

The DAE can be inserted into theaters of operations, by ship, submarine and airplane through various techniques, from fast rope, to skydiving, combat diving and many others, always ready to complete all missions from sea, air and land.

This Special Operations Unit is gifted with a high level of autonomy, and extremely high fire power, possessing the latest and best equipment and techniques in order to be able to in a concealed fashion accomplish all missions attributed. ​
