Force Protection in the ambit of Maritime Safety are operations which aim to safeguard the safety of Portuguese Navy Ships at sea or foreign ports, as well as a variety of other activities which contribute to fight illicit activities at sea.

Force Protection at Sea

​​Force Protection in the ambit of Maritime Safety is performed by boarding teams from the Fuzileiros Battalion nº1, who perform the following tasks:

  • Portuguese Navy Ships security;

  • Maritime Piracy combat operations;

  • Performing security for inspection teams;

  • Illegal immigration combat operations.

Force Protection at sea requires teams to have and high level of efficiency and great domain of maritime skills, reason why the Fuzileiros are highly trained.
